from the Old Supreme Court Chamber in the United States Capitol to his assistant, Alfred Vail, in Baltimore, Maryland, to inaugurate the first telegraph line.

VoRUK Firefighters battle Glasgow School of Art blaze Fire damages art in Glasgow The Voice of Russia reports a fire in Glasgow which started with a projector.

Damage was done to a students art work. A major fire is burning in Glasgow's iconic School of Arts that has potentially destroyed students' work. Eyewitnesses said that:
 the fire began when a projector exploded in the Charles Rennie Mackintosh building at around 12.30.
The school reported that there have been no casualties from the fire.
